So the year is winding down.  I know Florida schools are in their last couple of weeks, NJ schools not far behind.  Now that you have your first year pretty much under your belt, were there any surprises?  Pleasant or not so pleasant ones?

What did you learn about yourself, teaching or kids that you didn't see coming?  Do you have any words of advice for those folks graduating with their teaching certificates fresh and ready to go?
