We had several members report to us this morning that they were unable to select new layouts and widgets when they tried to edit the My Community View page.

Please be patient with us until it is resolved. Thank you!

Some of our members experienced an error message when replying to a conversation.

We saw this error on all browsers, and were able to fix it quickly.

Please note that, despite the error message, it appears that replies were being posted on the first try.

We're having a small hiccup with one of our features. I've notified our developers and will post here when it's fixed.

What's Happening: Members are unable to successfully embed links to  bookmarks that have red ribbons in the icon (Original bookmarks only have  a globe—no red ribbon. The ones with red ribbons indicate that someone  has re-saved the original.)

Current Workaround: You'll have success if you try to link to a bookmark with just a globe (the original bookmark).

Make sure the "When to search" field is set to "Anytime" if you don't see an original bookmark in your results.

The Error: You will get an error if you try to link to a bookmark with a globe + ribbon icon (a re-saved bookmark). We are working to amend this.

Our developers have had a breakthrough, and the categories widget is now working as intended.

This widget is perfect for organizing information in a Group: create your categories, at the bottom of each document (in create or edit mode) or discussion, check the category checkbox you'd like to use. The categories widget will take your readers right to items in that category with just a click.

For example, we've created this list in the Help Center to help distinguish between the many types of support materials we offer:

See the link below for the How To document that describes how to insert this widget. Enjoy!

We have located a bug in our Categories widget and are looking into resolving the problem.

The Categories widget helps organize tagged documents and discussions. In one click, you can find all documents tagged with a specific word. This is very useful for people who like to organize items in folder structures.

Currently, the filter aspect is broken, but we hope to report back soon with a working widget!

We've noticed that the Browse All > People search has not been providing complete search results. We're working to correct this problem.

It may help to read how you can make yourself more visible in our community search.

In the interim, if you're having trouble locating someone on the community, it may help to email that person directly to get that person's username rather than searching for their first or last name.

Update: 07.17.2010

We've located another "search quirk": if a user has a single letter last name and you search using the full name, it will not appear in the search results. We're working to correc this bug.

Verizon Thinkfinity is currently working on a known bug in the community software that gives members an error when they try to friend another member or accept a friend request. We will post an announcement here when the issue has been resolved. Thank you for your patience!

Update on May 5, 2010

We are still workingn to resolve this error. Thank you for your patience! In the meantime, a trainer sent us this tip:

"Friending goes well when we don't have 30 people friending one another all at the same time. So when teaching this in a large group face to face session, I might suggest people friend me and I will accept. Then try to friend one other person in the room but don't friend one another at the same time because the error will come up. It did in Aberdeen with the 30 people but I told them the issue and they understood. It did go quite well though."
