Help Center vs Contact Us

Posted by Jane Brown Jan 14, 2012

To get the support you need from Verizon Thinkfinity Staff,

Use the Contact Us link, located at the top right of Thinkfinity.org or at the very bottom of any page in the Thinkfinity Community or Thinkfinity.org, to get to a reporting page where you can make comments or notify us of a problem. For example,

  • General Comments, about the website or the community
Note: Please use the Contact Us link to request a change of username if you accidentally used your email address and want something more appropriate for your Community Log In.
  • Website Feedback, such as reporting a broken link
  • Training Question, regarding any problem specifically related to your training sessions

Use the Help Center### link in the top right of any page in the Thinkfinity Community to review “How To” documents o#r start a discussion. For example,

  • Review the many How To documents for using Thinkfinity Community
  • Ask a question about the use of the Thinkfinity Community or Thinkfinity.org
  • Address a problem/question regarding a Community feature

We want to guarantee all community members can find the help they need to use Verizon Thinkfinity website and Thinkfinity Community to their fullest.

Please be aware when using the Community to email or invite people to join your group from the Community that recipients with the following domains in their email addresses may find their invitation blocked:

att.net

ameritech.net

bellsouth.netflash.net

nvbell.net pacbell.net

prodigy.net

sbcglobal.net

snet.net

swbell.net

wans.net

We have two suggested solutions:

1. Email recipients can ask their IT contact to unblock the following IP relay: mail.sgaur.hosted.jivesoftware.com - 209.46.39.252

2. When inviting others to join a Private group, email prospective members directly with instructions to log in click on a link to your group, where they can request permission to join the group.

Thank you,

The Thinkfinity Community Team

As of 11.21, this issue was resolved. Please let us know in the comment section if you continue to have troubles logging in. Thank you again for your patience!

Currently members using browsers other than Internet Explorer are unable to use mouseclick selection for the password field and log in button on the Community log in page. A repair to this item is in progress.  Until the repair is made it is still possible to log in by following these steps:

  1. Select the username field with your mouse
  2. Enter username, type Tab key
  3. Enter password, type Tab key twice (skipping Remember Me checkbox and landing on Log In button)
  4. Type enter key

Jive support says that this is a known issue in Jive. You must follow the user in order to send a direct email to the user and receive a copy of the email.

Due to some maintenance on the Jive platform on Thursday, Aug 19, there has been a significant delay in receiving email notifications from the community. We have had reports from some members that they did not receive email notifications all that day, and then received them all in a batch on Friday. Another member let us know that her password retrieval notification did not reach her for 24 hours.

We apologize for these delays and we will continue to monitor Jive's software to ensure that we return to prompt email notification as soon as possible. We will keep this post updated as response time returns to normal.

If you have been waiting to personalize your entry page into Thinkfinity Community, the widgets are now working as of today, July 13, 2011. Go to Communities > My Community View from the gold navigation bar.

Check out Not authorized to view the specified document 2620 and the accompanying PowerPoint presentation - Community Personalization (PPT) to design your entry page into the community the way you like it.

Known Issue: Log In Trouble

Posted by christine Jun 22, 2011

We are hearing from several members that they are having trouble logging in to the community. Many say that when they log in, they are taken to the registration screen again. They try to re-register or Save their registration with no success.

We are looking into this problem and will report on any solutions here. If you're experiencing this, please post a comment and let us know the browser version and platform you are using!

On Tuesday, June 6, we conducted scheduled maintenance on the Thinkfinity Community to upgrade to a new version of software. On Wednesday, June 8, several members received 12 requests to approve notifications.

As of Thursday, June 16, we have learned that the notifications were sent in error to group owners only. Thanks for your continued patience while we address this error and get the notifications removed.

On Friday, July 22, our developers were able to correct the code that was sending notifications to all group owners. Group owners should receive no more notifications from groups they do not manage.

We have since contact all group owners with outstanding notifications and ask that they approve or deny them. Notifications that remain in one week will be cleared away and those members whose requests were cleared will have to re-apply for group membership. We're hoping this cleans up  notifications for all our patient group owners!

We had several members report to us this morning that they were unable to select new layouts and widgets when they tried to edit the My Community View page.

Please be patient with us until it is resolved. Thank you!

Thursday, Jun 16 Update: Please follow our progress on addressing this issue in the blog post Known Issue: Group Owners Received Notifications.

Wednesday, Jun 8 Update: Several people received 12 requests to approve notifications. We are working to correct this error. Thanks!

This coming Tuesday, we have scheduled maintenance on the Thinkfinity Community to upgrade to a new version of software. The site will be unavailable between 7-10pmET.

There should be no significant changes to the site in layout or function. We're making the upgrade primarily to support the rollout of our upcoming Thinkfinity Community mobile application for Android. More news on that launch in the next few weeks!

We've heard from our members that registering for the community takes too many steps—so we've streamlined the process down to three quick steps.

1. Click Join Now! on any community page to get to the first registration page:

2. The second registration page gives you the chance to upload an image, choose an avatar, or customize your privacy settings:

3. On the confirmation page (yes, you're already done!) we recommend some popular community activities so you know where to start:

Those three quick steps allow you to participate in community conversations and groups.

Send your friends a link to this blog post and spread the word!

The community is nearly a year old now, and I only just discovered this time-saver (I should say "search-saver").

Often when I'm linking to a document, blog post, or group in the community, it's content I've visited recently. When you select the link icon (the A with the chain in the above style bar) you get a pop-up with three tabs. I'd used the first, Web Address, before—a straight link out to a new url. And the second, All Content—a search for a particular piece of community content.

But I only recently discovered the third tab, Browse History, but this may be the most useful tab of all—it lists all the community content you've been to recently, making it very easy to link to content you've just referenced. Simple!

If you're wondering how to insert a link in the first place, check out How To: Embed a Link.

enjoy!

Some of our members experienced an error message when replying to a conversation.

We saw this error on all browsers, and were able to fix it quickly.

Please note that, despite the error message, it appears that replies were being posted on the first try.

If you're curious how something works in the community, there's one document that most likely holds the answer: the Thinkfinity Community Help Index.

This index lists a suite of documents that give details on all types of community features. If you're scratching your head, or if you just want to learn more about the Community, it's a great place to browse.

If your question remains, though, don't hesitate to post it in a Help Center discussion, or use the Contact Us link in our footer to send a question to our support team. We pride ourselves on prompt responses!

Jan 12, 2011: A member notified us today that she was seeing an error when she went to change and save her privacy settings. We're seeing the error message too, and we're working to get it fixed. We will post a note in here when we've ironed out the problem
